  • FCP crashing while Exporting

I have an issue. I have a 28 min FCP file that I’m trying to export in any format. It crashes on me at around 2 or 3%. I’ve done everything-

*Repairing my disk permissions (all the time)
    *FCP Rescue
    *Cleaning out Render Manager
    *Reinstalled FCP and OSX

I can however export a QT movie if it’s under 3 minutes long.

Any ideas? I’m starting to think that it’s the processor but I also realized that other programs run smooth with no errors.

    thanks

Any chance it’s bad media? Can you export a reference movie and then export it in Compressor or Quicktime? Maybe there’s a filter or transition that’s crashing it out? Does it happen to other long sequences or just this one?

That’s what I would check atleast-

I pulled the 29 min sequence apart and didn’t find any bad media/filters. FCP seems to be freezing up/error message anywhere from 1% to 23%…never made it past that 23. It all seems to be happening because of a long sequence. I’m not sure what in the heck to do from here. I’m thinking I will try to reinstall FCP again (3x now) and see if it helps but I’m starting to think that it’s OSX/G5 problems. I opened up Disk Utility and the computer froze….which is a first for me.

    Anyways I need some help.

Cleaned out the Render Manager and it’s working now.
