  When designing for Plasma and LCD TV – Is there a title safe area i have to worry about?

  Hi guys

  I have a job that is specifically for a plasma screen. I would like to use all avaiable real estate on screen. Can anyone tell me if plasmas and Widescreen LCDs for that matter, still have underscan?

  Yes, they do. It’s a lot less than on tubes, though, usually about 3-5%. It also depends on how the signal is fed in (there can be major differences between component and composite signals as well as between HDMI, VGA and other ways. It really depends. If you can, try to get a look at the display and maybe have them show you some stuff running on it. This should give you a good idea what gets cropped away.
