    Morning all

I am having a problem when importing an MPEG file into FCPHD. The visual are all ok but the sound is not there. I can play the clip using quicktime and sound is fine but when I get it into FCP there is no sound and when I put it down on the timeline it needs rendered befoore I can viiew it. I know the rendering issue is a question of having my timeline settings set to the same as the clip settings but is the sound related to this as well?

I did think about trying to convert the clip using Compressor but compressor wont recognise it.

I was handed the clips from someone who had saved them on a PC (tut, roll eyes) and I dont know exactly what form of MPEG they are.

    Any assistance would be great!

    Cheers

You need an application to demux the MPEG file. FCP cannot edit MPEG files, so you need to get something like MPEG Streamclip and convert it into the DV format.
