  How to render with alpha channels for Discreet edit 6.5

  I work on a mac, and I have a client who uses Discreet edit 6.5. They could read my quicktime movies, but when I saved it with an alpha it didn’t work. So, I tried the jpeg sequence and other sequences but they still couldn’t see the alpha when they imported it in their timeline. Any suggestions?

  Not clear about edit but not all Quicktime codec supports Alpha
  You could always render the alpha as a separate Movie

  Composition | Add Output Module
  Now you have two Output Modules in your render
  In the channel entry of the Output Module settings set that to Alpha

  A good intermediate that supports an alpha is the Animation codec at highest quality (lossless). Also it may not be your fault…the NLE may need to have a setting set in it’s software to be told what to do with an alpha channel, it maybe set to ignore an alpha channel. Also, it may require either a straight or pre-multiplied matte, both of which can be created in AE. If all else fails export the alpha channel as a separate file which can then be imported. I believe Aharon did a tut on this a while back.

  Edit supports TGA and/or TIF with alpha. Also uncompressed QT…
