    hey everybody

trying to troubleshoot a deck control issue when laying back an edit to XDCAM over SDI

so, what we can do : we have no problems capturing footage from the PDW-1500
L&C works fine … Capture Clip, Batch Capture and Capture Now are all working.

but I can’t use Edit to Tape to layback, neither Insert or Assemble edit will work.
the deck will cue up and preroll correctly but will not roll to record … i can crash edit but thats just not cool.

i’ve tried this with both FCP 4.5/Blackmagic Decklink 4.8 and with FCP5.0.2/Blackmagic Decklink 5
exactly the same behaviour exhibted with both setups

can anyone using this machine guide me towards the correct settings?

    mnay many thanks in advance
    Andy

I’m with you, brother… I had the same issue with a DVCAM machine that we had once. I remember you have to open the Edit to Tape window and then drag and drop your timeline onto whatever process you wish to do. Trying to use it as it was intended never work correctly under FCP 4.5 HD. But you should be able to use Print to Video. Let me ask…. is your deck set to regen timecode? If not, that will stop the deck cold in its tracks.

…. apparently this is a common complaint
whats happening is FCP is seeking a t/c reference which the PDW1500 can’t give
seems the only solution is to use Print to Video

    cheers
