    Hello all

I’m looking at moving over to a Mac for my next editor – my contempt for Windows is quickly outweighing my love of Adobe.

I’m currently using a Matrox RT.X100, which gives me hardware acceleration, hardware based MPEG and DV encoding, along with RCA/S-Video in and out. Are there any comparable products on the Mac?

I absolutely need to have S-Video in and out, or else it’s a no sale. I also really would like to have hardware based MPEG encoding, which blows software encoding completely out of the water.

    Thanks for the advice.

AJA Io has all analog I/O including S-Video. If you’re just working in DV codecs only, you could purchase a Canopus ADVC-100 which has S-Video I/O.

There is an MPEG-2 encoding board out there for the Mac, I just can’t remember what it is. I just use Compressor which comes with Final Cut Pro. I really don’t care to spend any money on an MPEG-2 encoder as DVD’s are not my main focus here.

    Hi,

You could do your MPEG encoding on a PC and everything else on a Mac.

    Best Wishes,
