Skip exisiting quicktime
Posted by Nicholas Toth on October 19, 2006 at 6:57 pmHey guys
I’m firing out a ton of photomoves. Can I network it and tell my machines to skip existing quicktimes?
Seems like its only an option in an image sequence output.Aharon Rabinowitz replied 19 years, 10 months ago 2 Members · 3 Replies -

October 19, 2006 at 7:16 pmto my knowledge, skip existing frames is meant only for image sequences, and there’s no similar option for video files.
If you’re just using AE, You’ll have to divy it up amoung several machines.
Although – I beleive that Smedge – a batch rendering prgram – most closely associated with Maya has the ability to control batch rendering with AE.

October 19, 2006 at 7:22 pmDon’t get me wrong, it looks AMAZING, especially the screen saver that automatically triggers the machine to start rendering, but as usual taking the time to learn something like that would put a dent in the flow. Are you familiar with xgrid? We have that set up, but actually getting it to work is KILLING us. We harnessed something like a total of 25+ ghz in the office, but we can’t get it to work!

October 19, 2006 at 7:43 pmmy experience with Smedge is a bit old, but I used it at a studio with maya. It was simple enough to learn if you went through the manual. Shouldn’t take more then a few hours to get up an running.
No experience with any other network rendering system though. Sorry.
