strange render problem when attempting to export

How do they appear to you so that you think they become “unrendered”?

they have a red line above the timeline.

Well, if they don’t ACTUALLY BECOME unrendered (a red line TEMPORARILY appears), I wouldn’t sweat it.

FWIW, my first guess is that its a minor display glitch (or that the timeline temporarily loses connection to some of the render files). It MIGHT be fixed if you try “trashing” the FCP preferences.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).

You may have got this sorted, but for anyone else who has this problem I have found a remedy. Go to Sequence, Render All, and put a tick by “FULL”. This allows for a full render of everything. For some reason FCP5 defaults to this not being selected. Hope this helps!
