    Hi Creative Cow,

I’d like to get some advice from other professionals regarding media storage on Internal and FireWire drives for a non-shared server set up. We are running into significant organizations issues as media and graphic files from various projects are scattered among multiple FireWire drives that are shared by three edit bays and two graphic stations. We continue to buy more FireWire storage but within weeks the drives are full and locating files becomes tedious.

Can Filemaker Pro or a different software be integrated into our workflow to allow for better organization and location of files? What is the best route to go when using 10+ FireWire drives?

    Thank you,

shared network storage- you are wasting time more than money.

    JD,

It sounds like you’re a prime candidate for a SAN solution. Your workflow would become so much more streamlined you can’t imagine how you ever survived before networking.
I’m partial to Apple’s X-SAN solution, but there are other options on the market. Do yourself a favour and research the options. How much is your time worth?
