  Multiclip question on FCPHD 5.0

  I have been working on a Multiclip project.

  Here is the set up. 2 clips in a multiclip.

  I have a multiclip on the timeline. I have managed to have clip 1 audio on A1 and clip 2 audio on A2. I am playing the clip in the timeline and I see the picture on the canvas but not on the view. The viewer is black. When the playhead moves to the next cut, the two views now appear as normal in the viewer.

  The difference between the good cut that work normally and the bad cuts that show the picture in the canvas but not the viewer is :

  1 I unlinked the audio form the video at one point to switch audio tracks from one clip to another
  2. The bad section have an audio track from clip one and clip two on A1 & A2 respectively

  My question is how can the clip be showing in the canvas but have a black (blank) viewer. I have the sync open so it should be following along. And how can I get this back to normal?

  I had the same problem with the viewer going blank.
  I was cutting a multiclip on video track 1.
  3 standard clips on video tracks 2,3,&4.
  I had a fifth video track with nothing but slug & the opacity down to zero.
  When I turned off the fifth track, problem solved.

  Try turning off any tracks not involved in the cut you’re doing.
