Quicktime – Windows Media Player – Real player????
I would like to put some small videos on the web and I would like to know if there is one format that works for all three players and is there a difference between these three players? I created a wmv through quicktime and wonder would this work on all pplayers or just windos and quicktime? Is there a right way or wrong way to putting these videos up on the net?

MPEG-1’s play in both windows and quicktime players. not the best quality, but it does work well in both players.

Walter is correct here; and to clarify, WMVs will only play in QT with the F4M QT decoder plugin installed for Mac OS X, something that certainly cannot be guaranteed. Also, about MPEG-1s, with the proper encoder, quality can actually look quite good (though never as good as the best WMV encodes). Gen at Digigami is producing some amazing stuff with MPEG-1 and his encoder, although I suspect his encoding times are astronomical to achieve that quality level.
