    Does anybody have any pointers?

I’ve tried on-lining at 23.98 but, of course, FCP doesn’t set the capture in-points to A-frames, so you end up with jitter frames (telecine dupes). When I did this last, the workaround was to export a batch list and manually change every in-point to a :05 or a :00 in TextEdit, re-import as an EDL, recapture, then reconnect the jitter clips to the properly reversed telecined clips. What a pain in the ass! Especially for a two hour sequence. I suppose you could open these batch lists in Excel and make global changes to columns, but I’m not sure how to do this or if it would even work.

The other more obvious solution is to create a 29.97 offline sequence from my 23.98 sequence, but this method is also wrought with problems because the in-points for the edits shift. Also, a pain in the ass!

I guess it’s possible that Cinema Tools could be helpful in some way although I’m not sure how. All my elements were reverse telecined, logged and linked to the film database through this software and, yes, I saved my videotape originals (at 29.97).

Can anyone offer any guidance. Unfortunately, the people who write manuals for FCP didn’t imagine this scenario and I’m at the end of my rope.

    Thanks ///Christian

Export an EDL from your 23.98 timeline. Use Cinema Tools to convert that 23.98 EDL into a 29.97 EDL. Recapture the footage at 29.97. Output.
