I’m a FCP new user and I’m getting an intermittent problem, I know that this problem is user error, yet I can’t seem to fix the problem. I need to stress that this happens only sometimes, and when it does do this, the problem seems to be global across all projects. PROBLEM: In FCP when I have my project roughed out and want to “control” click an audio seciton and “SEND TO SoundTrack Pro Audo Project” SoundTrack Pro opens, I’m given the option of where to save the “File Name (sent)” and I’m able to edit the “File Name (sent)” file…normalize, compress, reduce room noise, etc. I then save the file, close tab, however when I click on the FCP Pane to bring it to the front I get an error message: “OFFLINE FILES” Some files went offline” with Reconnect (or) Continue Options. Even when I show FCP where the files are I won’t allow them to reconnect, but I can however RE-IMPORT the files in to and FCP and work with them, but the orginial file is shaded white and will never reconnect. This only happens some of the time, other times the file will update automatically. What am I doing wrong? Somebody Please help me.

Haven’t used Send to Soundtrack, but Send to Shake is very similar in it’s losing of media, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Every once in a while I get the same sort of thing. For my workflow I select a file in the bin and “Open in Editor”. I can make changes to it, but then it simply wont save the altered file. I am able to “Save As…” and give it a new name.
Re-booting the computer usually sets things right for me.

As for reconnecting media. I had a lot of problems when I would quit STP and then save the file on the way out. I would get an “unexpected quit” message and the files would be screwed up so that they would no longer work anywhere. I learned that it was better to save the file, then close the tab, and then quit the program. (Command+s then Command+w then Command+q). As long as I do that I seem to have much fewer problems.

I’ve been checking the Apple Disscussions “Soundtrack Pro” Section and have found a few posts that are similar, if not identical, problems. I can, as you said “Save As” but the problem is that the IN POINT and OUT POINT are not saved…so if I’m tweeking a few seconds of audio from a larger section, when I reimport it I have to spend tons of “CLIENT” time to reconnect sync…I sure you see the problems with that, especially since, it is touted to work seamless… Thanks for your imput, I do really appriciate it. Hopefully a solution will either be made clear or APPLE will update to fix the problem if one does acutally exist.

I believe the whole “Reconnect” system in FCP is very flakey… see my post below.
