On clips over about 3 minutes I encounter stuttering video on playback.

Checked the source tapes and they are OK.

Played the video on the timeline one frame at a time and there are definitely held frames every few seconds. Shorter clips dig OK.

This is a newly Tigerized install. Any aps or services (ie dashboard) that should be turned off or disabled? There is no internet access on this machine although it is on a network.

    Rick,

Field order issue? If it is correct, try doing an audio mixdown.

Also check all your connections and cables. I had an issue with my cables to my Huge Media vault which they fixed with new ones.

Audio mixdown won’t work this time as the problem is with capture.

I can take the suspect piece of video and view it in Quicktime and see after about two minutes frames of video are held for up to 2 frames, then resume full motion for a few more seconds.

    Audio is uninterrupted.

It almost looks like a TBC issue when it senses a bad frame it freezed the lost frame, but we’re not using a TBC. Loading off SX via SDI. It seems the drives can’t keep up.

In the short term I noticed the “capture now” had an unlimited duration set, I changed it to 10 minutes and that seems to have helped. I’ll try a long capture later but I’m kinda busy! 🙂 Thanks guys.

    Rick,

Well that’s good you’re getting it. For long form capturing I highly recommend BTVpro. It’s a great little program, great for time lapse and still capture too.
