Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy DVX 100 PAL?

    Hello all,
My company is shooting something with the DVX100 PAL camera (because the commercial is for europe). I have a couple of questions.
    1. Does the camera do 24p, or is it just 25p and 50i?

    2. I want to shoot in 25p (I think), but is it like the NTSC camera with two different pulldown options…does it do the whole ADVANCE MODE thing.

    3. Which capture setting should I use in FCP5 for 25p? And if I want to capture SDI rather than firewire, can I remove the pulldown in Cinema Tools (since the firewire embedded flags will not be in the SDI stream)?

    ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED…THANKS,
    Eli

The DVX PAL shoots 25p or 50i. That’s it. There’s no 24p, nor is there the need for any funky pulldowns to add or remove. Just shoot 25p, capture as standard 50i PAL DV and you’re laughing.

Graeme, sorry to ressurect this post but I’ve had no luck anywhere else with an answer to this. So, you’re saying that I should edit 25p on a normal 50i timeline, and when I render, just render out as 50i as well?

My concern is that somewhere in the process of capture, edit, render, FCP will do some deinterlacing of my footage, which, is already deinterlaced 😉

    Cheers
    Aaron
