    hi!
i am trying to capture a 24 hour video stream on a 3 chip camera directly to a hard drive (perhaps via a laptop.) is there anyway to parcel the data flow into 2G or smaller groupings when capturing to an external drive?
do you have any alternative ideas on how to do this? is fcp the ideal software for this application?

    thnx

FCP is not the best for this. I would even venture to say that it would be one of the worse choices for this.

Jitter is designed to let you design something to do this

That is very helpful. any other software you might recommend? in addition to jitter? would BTV pro do the job??

looks like BTV pro would work fine – it has a 2GB split option
