    Hello,
its been bugging me for a while now. Every time I add a second layer of video, or a title, the picture quality degrades to a very blocky thing.
Now I use a G5 with 2 G of RAM… And even when Ive rendered everything (having checked everything in the render selection and the render all
menus), I still get that horrible picture. Worse, if I export it to quicktime, its still the same horrible look. And my quicktime settings are set on high quality.
Dear God, what should i do!!!????

Look at this, and judge the quality on an external monitor or TV…NOT your computer screen. Connect a camera to your computer, and then the TV to the camera.

    Shane’s Stock Answer #2:

    1. Disable overlays on the canvas
    2. Make sure you’ve rendered everything (no green bars at the top of the timeline
    3. Upgrade to 10.3.8 (many people had this crop up when they upgraded to 10.3.5)

DV footage requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen. However, the DV footage is still at full quality, and is best viewed thru a TV or NTSC monitor routed thru your camera or deck.

Thank you very juch for your answer… but…
    1. I am using OS 10.3.9
    2. I am viewing using an external NTSC Broadcast monitor
    3. I have rendered everythng. Even went as far as deleting all the render files and re-rendering
    4. Show overlays is unchecked
And last, but not least, as I said, it also looks bad on the exported quicktime.

Do you have any other ideas?

Make sure your timeline settings are set to ulimited RT and to display the highest quaility video. not low or medium. (Click the button in the upper lefthand corner of the Timeline.) It is very confusing and easy to mess that up. I had the same problems when I started to get cute with those buttons.
