    Hi Walter and everyone,

Thanks for the replies to a previous posting on titles but I believe I am still doing something drastically wrong. I am using Boris’ 3D titler and indeed it is better than apples text. But here’s what I’m seeing. Nice crisp text when still. After rendering when I play the text compresses in hieght a bit and blurs out almost breaking apart a bit, in an unhelpful way. I have gone into the video processing tab, as Duncan suggested, and fooled around with that a bit all to no avail. Also made sure that if I had moved the title it was to an even number, which it was but still no difference. Even tried to not reposition, and again a squish and blur happens with the titles. A graphic element even introduces stair stepping.

Any help would still be greatly helpful. I do have AE but would love not to have to go out in every instance, especially for check copies.

    Thanks,
    Rich Sims

Still no luck. I’m still seeing a squish on the hieght and an overall blur when playing. When I stop the playhead than everything is looking good. It almost looks like the field dominance is off, but when I have tried all the upper instead of lower same things going on.

    Very frustrating.

    Take care,
    Rich

Sorry to reply to my own post but here’s some additional new news. I was on the apple site and it seems that many many people are experiencing this phenom of the text looking like there is an interlace thing going on. The only workaround anyone has come up with in versions before 5.2 is to turn all field dominance off. This is bringing up a whole other set of problems and does not always work.

By any chance are you judging any of this on an external monitor? You cannot judge what anything looks like on your computer monitor.

    Shane’s Stock Answer #2:

    1. Disable overlays on the canvas
    2. Make sure you’ve rendered everything (no green bars at the top of the timeline
    3. Upgrade to 10.3.8 (many people had this crop up when they upgraded to 10.3.5)

DV footage requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen. However, the DV footage is still at full quality, and is best viewed thru a TV or NTSC monitor routed thru your camera or deck.

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for the response. I actually got down to the bottom of things. But to answer you question, yes I was using a 20″ Sony HR broadcast monitor. The solution came from AJA. I have a Kona2 board and after we upgraded to the latest drivers and firmware everything seems to have cleared up. I was nothing that they had seen before so they assumed a corruption had happened somehow.

What’s the deal with the disable overlays in the Canvas. Has this been wreaking havok?

    Take care,
    Rich Sims

Apparently it has. That was something I added later when someone else found another possible reason.
