Hello, I’m hoping someone can lend some advice, or maybe a trick or two to help out with my problem.

I’m doing a series of award show opens and I have footage that was shot at 16×9 standard definition. The broadcast for the award show is in HD, so all of my graphics and deliverables need to be HD 1920×1080 59.94.
I know this sounds ridiculous and believe me I’ve been through the ringer with the client trying to convince them that this was not a good idea. Nonetheless, the client has had budget issues so I am forced once again try to make it work. I’ve stretched all of the standard definition footage out to HD resolution, and I have to say, After Effects has done a great job. But its still looks pretty bad. I’ve used an adjustment layer and blurred a halo around the edges to hid some of the artifacting but it still looks pretty bad. I’m wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this before and might have a trick or two up their sleeve.

    Praying someone can help. 🙁

    Thanks,

    A

Exactly what do you have to do with the footage? Does it have to remain full screen?

If I were forced to work with that, I would be looking at incorporating graphics with the video, some kind of borders perhaps with the name of the award. Anything to make the video smaller then full screen.

Also take a look at blur, unsharp mask. May help to sharpen the video a bit.

    Thanks for the reply,

The video is a shot of a traditional aboriginal rock formation. The effect/transition I’m using needs to be full screen.
My first thought was to shrink the video inside the frame and create graphics to hide the borders, but the client didn
