Jumpy sound when capturing
I am using FCP HD 4.5 to capture my video, but most of the time when I try to do so, it either comes up with the message “preview disabled” and won’t display the video at all. Then a lot of the times where I finally get it to display and capture the video, it says that there might be a problem with the tape, so it is unable to read the data. Sometimes it does read the data and everything is fine except for the sound. It “jumps” regularly for a split second or longer. When I try listening to and watching the original reacording through the camera, everything is fine.
It seems to be a problem with FCP, but I don’t know. CAn anyone help???
Tried to fix the “preview disabled” by using the advice given in another thread about deleting the receipts from Quicktime and then reinstalling it. Didn’t work…!Any help would be much appreciated.

The Preview Disabled problem can be solved by tossing prefs ususally.
This really shouldn’t matter anyway, as footage should show up on your NTSC video monitor regardless. You probably also do not have your speakers properly connected. Ideally, they should be connected to the DV Deck or Camcorder, along with the video monitor.
Many people do not work with FCP set up as a system. Try it this way and I’ll bet things go a lot smoother.

What do you mean by “tossing preferences Usually”? Which preferences? FCP? QT? And what do you mean by usually?
