  monitor configuration

  Hi all,
  I’m trying to determine the best working monitor configuration for a FCP station and am very interested on input from you all. Looking at a dual 20″ or 23″ setup. Now is there enough real estate on one 20-23″ cinema display to use the second monitor for an output monitor….or not? Or is it better to spread the FCP interface over the 2 monitors? Bins on one side and timeline -source/record windows on the other. What is the most efficient setup considered to be?

  I think the 23″ solution is the sweet spot here…

  Well, I wouldn’t use a computer monitor as an output monitor.
  Even a simple TV with some firewire box will be more true to the game than watching video on a monitor.
  (For example “Raw” DV footage looks ok on the computer monitor,
  but once you watch it on a TV or monitor you get that ugly DV motion in all its galore)

  For a single monitor, the 23″ is the way to go. For dual monitors, two 20″ or a combination of 20″ and 23″ will work too.

  There’s no “best” way to work with dual monitors. That all depends on what you’re doing at that moment. Sometimes I’ll have the Canvas filling up one monitor with everything else on the other, especially when I’m compositing. Sometimes I’ll have a timeline fill up one screen and push everything off to the other. Two monitors just give you a lot more options to re-adjust your real estate. The best thing to do is always save your Window Layout whenever you create a new setup so you can always go back to it another time.
