Position
I hate that I seem like a novice, but novice I am in FCP. I’m trying to zoom in on some stills. They are high res so I can do so with good resolution. In PPro in the motion tape there are controls for Scaling and for position. I’m not finding the same in FCP. I have located the scale function and can keyframe that motion, but the more obvioius, in my view, of keyframing the position of the clip is either not there or I’m not seeing it. I’ve gotten down to crunch time on this project having suffered an unexpected Hard Drive failure on my new dual G5 PowerMac. So if anyone has a quick answer, please share it. The position of the clip is controlled by the CENTER control. Either adjust the numbers, or click on the “+” symbol and drag it where you want it to go.

Also helpful is changing the anchor point to the subject on the picture you want to zoom into. It’s not always cool to zoom in and out on the center of a picture. In fact, most of the time it isn’t.
Changing the anchor point for doing motion graphics is probably the #1 thing that can improve the look of any photo montage that most novices never think to do.
Of course, more about this stuff in my book. 😉
