Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy HDCAM storage?

I’m in the middle of upgrading to a G5 and hoping to buy the Decklink HD Pro card and just want to check with everyone and find out what kind of storage everyone is using.

I have a 90 mininute HDCAM feature that I want to uprez on my own system but want to make sure I have enough storage. Which one do you guys use or prefer? I have a Huge System 320R but it’s only about 900Gigs. How much do I need to digitize HDCAM 4:2:2 for 90 mins? I prefer to buy a new system or can I just buy the removable drives and put them in to redig on my huge system drive array?

Anyone know how much a new drive array is or where I can get a good deal on one?

    Any advice is appreciated.

For uncompressed HD there’s really nothing like Fibre Channel. I run the Medea FCR2X (2TB) array here and it’s very fast and it just works. No SCSI OS X issues, no installing drivers with each OS updates, etc… it just works.

You can get them at Promax (promax.com) and B&H Photo (bhphoto.com) among others. They go up to 3.2 TB.

If you have a Huge 320R that is fast enough for uncompressed 10bit HD single stream 900Gigs should give you nearly 2hrs so 90 mins should be safe.
