    Dear FCP users,

I’ve been editing a musical that I volounteered to film using two DSR-570 DVCAM cameras.

Both were recorded in 16:9 widescreen (PAL).

Both were captured with my machine and same DSR-11 deck. No setting were changed.

In the bin, my 1st half’s video was streached looking, as expected for my 16:9 footage. However, when I started playing with the 2nd half’s video, black bars had letter boxed my video and now exporting to DVD studio pro, I find that that the letter box material is 4:3!

I managed to ctl+click on the files from the 2nd half in the bin and saw they were anamorphic, so switched them, however my material in the sequence doesn’t change, neither does it if i do it individually.

I’ve also checked the setting of my sequence, both are exactly the same.

If I drag the 2nd half’s video into a new sequence, it’s perfect like my 1st half, however I don’t want to wase time re-editing and I’ve done as much as I could think of!

    Does anyone have any ideas?

I took a couple of screen shots to show what happens to the material that is on the sequence timeline, and the material that is in the bin.

Any ideas would be so greatful as I’ve got a tight deadline to do i for a school!

    Thanks,
    Alex

Have you checked the “Motion” tab in the viewer for any of your clips? There is an aspect ratio setting in there.

Depending on what you want, -33, 0, or 33 could all be numbers you want. Try changing it to those and see if that changes it to what you want.

I can’t see an aspect ratio setting there?

    I’m using 4.5 HD.

    Thanks,

Not in front of my mac right now, but I believe the numbers from Jeff go in Distort. Twirl done the Distort arrow under the Motion tab.

Ah, that sounds like what I’m talking about, Bryce.

I’m not in front of my Mac either, which explains the incorrect term. Thanks!

I have something similar that may or may not apply.

I just did the upgrades of Tiger and FCP 5…I could not figure out why everytime I dropped something into a sequence…it had to be rendered.

I got to looking in the motion and audio tabs and for some unknown reason to me…when I dropped clips into the timeline…it randomly added info into some of the tab fields. Once I reset to defaults or zero…dependent on the setting that was changed…tadaaaahhhh…I no longer had to render and video did not look distorted.

Any one experienced this like me and I am thinking that is what may be the problem here.

    WOW! That’s it!

Thank you! Just stuck it on 0!

Any idea how I can do it to all cuts?!

I would copy the corrected clip and paste only attributes with Motion attributes selected to selected new clips.
