  Help! My FCP3 titler freezes computer

  I am working on a G4 dual 1ghz system running OS 10.3.5 and FCP3. I have been using my system for about 3.5 years without a hitch. I opened a project that I am currently working on, and tried to apply a title to a short segment (as I have sucessfully up until now…) and the horrible revolving beach ball thing started up. It spins and spins, and then FCP crashes. The computer itself seems to be working fine.

  I ran a diagnostic, and trashed my prefs, but it still is wacky. I can’t get any of the titlers to work, and the system keeps going down.

  Any ideas? I’m stuck.

  If you are using Title 3D, I’d reinstall it… download it from Apple’s download area…

  Thanks Jerry, but unfortunately none of the title functions will work. I’m going to do a clean install of my software and see if that clears up the problem. I would love to hear any other ideas that anybody has….I have had no problems with FCP up until this point. I’m just wondering if it’s hardware or software (or user error…) that is causing this headache.

  Check and see if you have i think it is Aerial installed or if it’s corrupted. I had the same problem. It is a Microsoft Font and i didn’t install Internet explorer and the same thing happened untill i installed IE.

  Well, it seems that the problem was a little bit more than just the prefs or the fonts…the hard drive was bad. But it answers the question, hardware or software problem!
