Batch Capture Nightmare ! Please Help me before I jump off!
Is it my camera? or what… do I need to get a “real deck”, like a Sony DSR-11? Final Cut Pro can never find the time code… I can see it trying (the camera is searching) but then I get errors like:
1. Batch Capture: Timecode Error: End of tape reached.
Sometimes it’ll work after trying several times. Or if I just select several items out of my logging bin (instead of all). There doesn’t seem to be any real rhyme or reason to it all.
Any thoughts. How can I fix this?

Oh- Here’s another error that I get: Batch Capture: Timecode Erro: Unable to locate te specified timecodel You may have specified a timecode with insufficient room for a pre/post role operation.
Hmmm. Not enough room between one batch and the other?

You generally need to have at least 5 seconds of pre-roll before your in-point for the Batch Capture to work. If you don’t have at least 5 seconds of continuous timecode before your in-point, the capture won’t work.
You can change the pre-roll time in the Capture presets, but there’s only so far you can cut back.

That error comes up if you have a / character in any of your clip names. OSX doesn’t like that.

In a jam, I’ve gotten past a timecode break that was too close to the in point by adding margins that crossed the timecode break. Be sure to set fcp so that it doesn’t stop or create new clip on timecode break or this won’t work either.
