I have a 150 GB external Firewire drive, its not 800, only 400
Then on my machine I have an extra internal 180GB..
Is there any recomendation as far as perfomance on whether I should run my media of the internal or external..
    Any thoughts..
    Thanks

If the interal is also 7200 RPM, they’ll probably both run at about the same speed, depending on how fragemented or full they are.

The external should be fine for DV material. I have had 2 FW 400 drives for 3 years and they have never failed me.

I also have 3 extra internals, and I go to them first, as they are more reliable. But he external handle the overflow very well.
