I have shot a concert and even if the audio level of the camera mike was set to automatic, the audio is saturated and lightly distorted, especially when there are strong bass frequencies. Unfortunately I was very close to the stage and the sound was really too high, so I suppose the camera could not regulate it correctly, I should have regulated it manually, but I thought the automatic levels would be fine.

Does it exist any audio plug-in or method to try to improve the audio and minimize the distortion problems?

Any help or suggestion would be highly appreciated as the video came very nice but with this bad sound I cannot deliver the finished program to the client.

    Thanks,

    Giancarlo

You’re going to have a heck of a time fixing this. Try playing with the high pass and low pass filters and see if you can isolate the problem. You won’t be able to get rid of it, but you can probably help it a bit. Then try covering it up with crowd noise/more distortion.

I suggest hiring an audio post professional if your client really needs the audio to be decent. But I doubt he needs it perfect, otherwise he wouldn’t have hired you. (sorry for the dig but auto levels, and the on-camera mic aren’t ever going to get good audio at such an event)
