  Awesome Compressor Cluster Encoding!!!

  We just set-up a cluster node with 3 G5s to encode through Compressor.
  It is excellent!!! What it took an average of 12 min. (at best resolution) to
  encode a 5 min. video to MPEG-2 now takes only 3min.

  We have also networked all systems through Gigabit Ethernet, and we can
  get more than 6 streams of DV video through the same Lacie Big Disk 500
  spread over 3 G5s. No drop frames, no latency, no chokes. Nothing!

  We will be adding some G4’s we have around to see how much we can speed up the
  encoding process; and we will try uncompressed material through FW800 hooked
  to one computer and shared through Gigabit.

  I’ll keep posting and if anyone is trying something similar please post.
