  Print to tape don’t get all audio from a QUICKTIME ! Help!

  Very very weird problem:

  I had a sequance with 4 audio channels (2 roomtone, 2 music – stereo) i needed to dump to tape.
  On Print to Tape I got only 2 channels (roomtone)

  so OK, I did a quicktime of the whole thing, checked it out on Quicktime player, looked and sounded OK.
  I even imported the file to Avid to check it. Also OK.

  However, on Print to tape I STILL hear only the roomtone, not the music – and it’s a QUICKTIME !!

  i feel real lost here ..

  First thing, are you sure you have your DECK/CAMCORDER set up (and monitoring) so you can HEAR both audio channels when it plays?

  Next, under any circumstances with audio problems, you should perform and “Audio Mixdown” before recording out of FCP.

  NOTE: Mixdown has even been demonstrated to help with slipping, skipping problems (or “missing” audio clips) for files being EXPORTED as QT (or similar) files out of FCP.

  First, SELECT ALL of your audio tracks (highlight them) on the timeline, then:

  Sequence Menu > Render Only > Mixdown.

  You should see a dialog box telling you its rendering.

  It might seem to make little sense that “Mixing down” even simple audio tracks will “fix” complex video “freezes” or random audio dropouts to tape or export, but it CAN.

  NOTE: It does not matter of you only have one audio track, if there are random freezes during output, you should try the Mixdown.
