  How do you change the countdown video?

  I am wondering how to change the countdown video to a customized video that is created in After Effects.

  Also, what would the specs have to be on that video in order to follow SMPTE standards?

  Create the countdown and drop it into your timeline…like you would any clip. I always build my timelines to include the BARS & TONE, black and slates.

  And SMPTE doesn’t have a standard for countdown clocks. Only levels and framerates.

  I am actually wondering how to properly replace the default countdown in Final Cut Pro 4.5 with a customized one.

  I was wondering the specific details of the new file that I will create. For example, is the countdown supposed to go from 8 down to 2? And also, are there any other specs that the countdown movie should have?

  If you are uding DV, then make it 720×480. And the typical countdown goes from 10 to 2.

  As for how to replace the default one so that yours shows up in the PRINT TO VIDEO command…I have no clue. Just drop it onto your timeline and don’t have that option selected in the PRINT TO VIDEO command.
