  Export Problem

  Hi There… I am a long time broadcast guy who is now on his own and having to edit his own stuff for a change. I’m using what I call the Trinity, Photoshop, After Effects and FCP. I’m having all kinds of learning curve issues, but my biggest problem is maintaining proper size both on the front and back sides. I may create something in PS @ 720 x 540, take it into AE, animate it and import into FCP. Then after I edit, I’m exporting to Quick Time and the thing is wanky. I also just exported my reel from FCP to QT and the video is sticking like crazy. I use a G4 Powerbook with 1GB memory and plenty fast enough. Is there any standards for size IO’s? and does anyone know why the QT movie is freezing up?

  Sounds like you need a faster disk drive to play back the files you are creating… what format are they? DV? or something else… like uncompressed video… powerbook’s internal drive or a single firewire drive isn’t fast enough to playback larger than DV files… a G-Raid would though… and it will connect to your Powerbook.

  I;m using 2 firewire 800 OWC drives. I did output an uncompressed version and a DV as a test. The uncompressed is the one that sticks the most, but the DV also has some wankyness. I also created an animation of my logo in AE… I was working with it at 720 x 540 and rendered it at 648 x 486 then burned a test DVD and played it on a SD TV. The animation was squashed, so I know I am doing something wrong in the process. I need to have large quantities of DVD’s made and I need the best quality I can get.

  I forgot to include the part about the type in the animation going soft by the time it gets to the SD TV. I started in Photoshop and went through AE and FCP and somehow I lossed quality. I really don’t get that????
