    I’m not real big on the trim window and I don’t like to change tools all the time. Trimming is one area (perhaps the only one) where I desperately miss my old discreet *edit. I’ve got a few quick ideas for improving things in FCP which I’ve forwarded to Apple. I post here in hopes that others will echo these requests (or clue me in where I am lacking).

    1. The Extend Edit is a crippled tool. Here’s the quick fix:

    Shift-E Extends backwards
    Allow ripple editing when only incoming or outgoing edit is selected.
    When no edit is selected, assume the prior edit

    2. Select (and trim)

    I know the rolling edit tool is only an “R” away, but…
    Allow rolling trims with a modifier, ripples with an

    3. Select Edit “V”

    “V” selects one side of edit
