I need to lay off a 720p master to D5 using drop frame code. FCP will not allow me to switch a 59.94 720p timeline from NDF to DF. Any suggestions out there to get my show off to tape according to spec? Any help would sure be appreciated. thanks.

maybe ‘cuase the 59.94p is DF
    60p would be NDF…

( and yes there is a much more complex answer)

59.94 is the speed. D5 references 29.97 base TC, not 59.94. I need to output to tape with proper SMPTE drop frame code, the deck allows for it in 720p, FCP does not. NDF vs. DF has nothing to do with tape speed. NDF/DF has to do with how TC numbers relate to real time. Call me, Gary. I think you’re misunderstanding me. Steve from Chicago HD.
