Help with viewing QT export
I’m working with web designer (long distance) who insists I’m doing something wrong with a video file I exported from FCP using Sorenson 3. Maybe I am — I’m looking for input…
From his description of the problem, he’s seeing the interlace lines on a moving object when playing back a freeze frame and says that should never happen with Quicktime; he wants to see a blur. He’s viewing it on a PC Avid and says he’s never seen interlace on any other video. I think it’s a playback issue — you can set your player to view one field at a time or both interlaced; the latter will provide the blur. And in the end it won’t matter because he’s going to compress it down into a web clip and no one’s going to notice the interlace.
But he’s kind of raising a stink, telling the client that FCP can’t handle the video data like his Avid. Am I missing something? Is there a way to export the file so full fields are always viewed? How can he on his Avid view the material without wrinkling his nose?
The program was originally sent to me on 3/4″ tape (!) which I had dubbed to DVCam, and then captured on FCP and exported using Sorenson 3’s standard settings. I’m using FCP 4.5 on 17″ Powerbook/1.5 G.
