What is the best way to keep all the media files but dele all the media to free up disk space? I tried media manager but it didn’t seem like there was an option for leaving the media files on the disk. I would like to be able to recapture the deleted media in case I need it down the rooad by still having the logging info in tact.

Control-click on the media files in your browser bin and look for “Make Offline…” You’ll have 3 options: Leave on disk, Move to Trash and Delete from Disk. I usually Move to Trash and wait a few days before I empty it, just in case.

yeah. that was pretty stupid of me. for some reason I felt that the actual QT files on the disk would stay and read that they are offline. But to recapture all I need is the logging info in FCP.
I think I need to wake up this morning.
    thanks.

As he said, that is actually 2 of the 3 choices. Make sure you get the right one.
