  • Problem with scrolling text w/ example…

Posted by Charlie Wu on October 5, 2006 at 3:32 am

In my previous post, i asked question about scrolling text; and the thread sort of stopped after couple of replies.

This time i posted a clip online, hope people can check it out, and help me with this problem. This is my burning question, and i know if there is a solution, is going to a simple one. Please help me!!!!!!

As you’ll see in the clip, there’s jumps thru out the clip first starts close to the last part of the first paragraph, and then it gets more thru out.

This is originally a Jpeg file with plain text, then add brushstroke filter to distort the text and added texture (the purpose of distorting the image is to make less of a text issue, I am trying to say this problem isn’t about the text. if i am wrong, please correct me); then animated in after effect with up moving motion on the y-axis only.

I’ve tried the same method with apple motion, the result is similar. I wonder why??? I don’t think it’s about the horse power of my computer, because I tried encoded the file into mpeg2 and burn to DVD, still the problem shows on the tv screen.
    Here’s the link: https://homepage.mac.com/charliewu/iMovieTheater31.html
it might take a little to load since the file is about 14-15 MB or so. you can download it as well from the idisk link.

    Please please help me!

Tis a strange one that…first thoughts are that your text/white info is too thin and there’s some weird aliasing issue going on here. It almost looks like a power surge or something?..Am I seeing the right thing here?

Try applying a blur to the whole thing and see if it still does it then?

    hi jimmy,

Tried that. Doesn’t work. I really have no idea what so ever. I’ve tried de-interlance, changed the fonts, but same thing happened. I wonder, if it happens to everyone or just me….

    thanks

anybody who is reading this: please give it a try – type or paste a long paragraph so that the text box is about 3 times the canvas, then do a change in position, so that the text gets scroll thru. See if you encounter the same problem.

Notice, that i’ve distorted the text to a degree that this could be simply a image, but the scrolling is just not smooth.

Please please help me… I really do need help with this…

i think it’s the speed of the scroll combined with the thin type. change the speed.
