Artifacts on downloading AG-DVC200 footage on FCP 4
Hi,
I am getting artifacts flickering across my screen in a line when I download footage from my AG-DVC200 Panasonic camera via firewire. It doesn’t appear when I play it on a monitor, or when I test it on a G5 system with FCP 5 (just released). I have a G4 867 mhz single processor system with FCP 4, and want to know what sequence and capture preset settings I can use so this flicking artifact doesn’t appear. The camera has been out since 2001, so I don’t know why FCP 4 shouldn’t be able to handle it. I’ve never had this problem before with a digital camera. I have over a gig of RAM, so I don’t think memory is a problem. I’ve tried varying the settings, including using unompressed 8 bit on download. I get the same artifact problem every time. Strangely, it only appears when I pan the camera, not when I zoom in or out, or the camera is still. Panasonic has been less than helpful. “We no longer provide support for this camera” is the only response I get when I call customer service or send an email. Has anyone experience this problem, or used this camera with FCP 4? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
