We are currently using a G5 and FCP with a Cinewave RT Pro card and the Targa Analog Breakout box. We are having a lot of issues with our system and have decided to move away from the Cinewave system (Especially with the fact that Avid has bought-out Pinnacle).

Anyways I was hoping to get some advice on what is the most stable and recommend card for the Apple G5 and FCP? We work mostly work with BetaSP.

We will need a break out box and have been recommended to look at the:
Aja Kona because because we can purchase the breakout box. We don’t know too much about the Aja Kona or Blackmagic Decklink.

So any suggestions, advice, or recommendations regarding where to even start our research would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

You may want to check out the BlackMagic Multibridge Extreme. It’s not coming out ’til July or so but it could be perfect for you:

I’ve been doing a lot of research on this recently, and my company is looking at the Multibridge Extreme because it’s SD AND HD ready, as well as has all the inputs and outputs you need for Beta SP. AJA doesn’t have a unit that can take all the inputs/outputs and give both HD and SD. It’s one or the other. Or you can get component video out but not in.
Plus, I’ve heard good things about the Blackmagic codec.
