custom size sequence render/export issues
we make content for a super wide screen projection screen and use custom sequence settings to acheive this. Our sequences are 2160×576 PAL DV. each piece is 3-4 minutes long. we are having several issues when it comes to exporting quicktime movies.
the first is that around a 3rd of the way through the export (typically 2 hour long exports from a G5 2.0g) the sequence shows the red bar over the entire sequence, if the export is successful then this seems to right itself after the export is done and the quicktime movie is ok in that it doesnt have any blue – unrendered slugs.
sometimes part way through the render it will just choke and give an out of memory dialog box. I though this could mean we have a corrupted file or clip – but its way too random for that – sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.
the third issue is that the quality of the final quicktime movie is poor – looks like its been rendered to medium or preview quality – though after much checking all the render settings are set to full quality.
does anyone have experience in working in large custom sequence sizes? can anyone think whats going on with the sequence seemingly losing render files during export? and any ideas on why the QT movies looks crappy?
thanks
