    Hi,

I’m currently finishing shooting a doc. on my new Sony HDV. As I haven’t recieved FCP5 yet and have a very tight deadline I’m wondering about editing format.

What should be better quality edit in Native HDV and downconvert at end to anamorphic uncompressed out SDI to digibeta.

or digitise component (from the camera) uncompressed for output to digibeta via sdi.

The second option is one I can do now, I’d have to wait for FCP5 for the first.
The master is only required in SD.

    Thanks,

    Johnny

p.s. Any idea when FCP5 arrives in Ireland (sure they probably pack it down the road in Cork…)

I am having a similar problem, eagerly waiting for FCP 5 in Amsterdam.
I am thinking about starting editing in DV and when I have FCP5 recapturing in HDV. The timecode should be the same I guess, but I don’t know if it is possible. I don’t really feel like starting now in DV and than re-edit the whole thing in HDV.

anyone knows if this is possible? (or if FCP5 is already shipping in NL or EU?)

I received it a couple of days ago and I live in a very small village way up in the north of Holland (Westerwijtwerd, nothing like Amsterdam) 🙂

I’ll wait hopefully than, allthough I ordered via a reseller, not apple directly.
