No direct export of MPEG2 from FCP5?? A feature, not a defect.
This is one of those things that’s a ‘feature, not a defect’ according to what I’ve been able to find out so far.
When I move a sequence from FCP 4.5 to DVD Studio Pro, I have been exporting a file ‘using QuickTime conversion;’ selecting
MPEG2 from the list; and choosing bit rate and quality from the ‘options’ pop-up.I’ve been happy with the results. The DVD’s seem to work well in the venue (sports videowall) and it looks good.
Apple has eliminated this option from FCP5/QuickTime 7 according to the person I spoke to there. One needs to create the
MPEG2 asset by opening DVDSP or Compressor and doing it through those programs. Is there something I’m missing here? Could the results have been better had I used DVDSP or Compressor to build the assets?
Aren’t they all using the same codecs? Why would they eliminate MPEG2 exports directly from
Final Cut Pro.
I assume a lot of other people use this method, but maybe not. Am I in the minority here?
Thanks,
