  I have a little edit that was shot on 35mm film, so the Beta dailies I had to work with have 3:2 pulldown. The resulting DVD was VERY stuttery in areas with a lot of motion, so I’m guessing I need to remove the pulldown with Cinema Tools.

  My first two attempts didnt seem to remove all the pulldown, I can still see split fields every few frames. Is there some basic white sheet on how to use this? Quick Start guide?

  If you edited at 29.97 from a telecine to Beta SP and then made a DVD, I don’t know why you had such stuttery motion.

  How did you get the footage on to the machine? Perhaps you have a field dominance issue?

  Maybe a little more info on your process would help. If you take 29.97 (even if originated on film) into final cut, edit at 29.97 and then make a DVD, you shouldn’t really see any more stutter than was on the original video tape.

  Hey Steve,

  I did as I always do, using BlackMagic capture presets, all normal, 29.97 as you decribe. The stuttering was MAJOR in areas of high motion.

  Good news is that my third attempt at pulldown removal seems to have worked, no more stutter in the DVD and a very happy client.
