29.97 & 24p not playing nice for network/solution?
FCP timeline is 24p. Some CG is 29.97df. One video clip is 29.97 with all the problems that entails. What if anything can I do to make this mostly work?
1) Poss solution?–finish all clips in native timelines. Assemble edit later. Bad choice but may work with no s-s-s-stutters.
2) Poss solution?–some sort of media cleaner?
3) Poss solution?–change the 24p to the 29.97 timeline instead of changing the 29.97 clip in the 24p timeline???
Help, my boss is not going to be happy with me. (Having shot the 29.97 clip was a bad oversight by my…uh,…the XL-2, yeah, equipment error!

Your workpath is as follows:
1) go to the link below and jump to the bottom of the article under the heading: “I shot in the wrong mode! Help!”

2) ask your boss if you can buy Grame’s standards conversion filter for FCP which will convert your 29.97 footage into 32.98 to match the stuff from the XL2. Then you’ll be able to edit eveeryting in a single timeline/sequence.
3) and I ain’t buyin’ it that it’s all because of an equipment error (grin). Nice try, though.

Further to that, there’s solutions either way – to edit in a 23.98fps or 29.97fps timeline. You’ve just got to decide if you want that cohesive 24p look, or not, and if you want to make a 24p DVD or not.
