    Hi all

Have posted a question on this subject recently and decided that i would use a seperate greyscale image sequence with AE 7 ‘s lens blur to control the dof.

Now, thought i’d give the rla sequence a go anyway. Rendered out some stills, checked the z channel image in Maya’s fcheck window and everything is fine. As, a test, brought it into AE and tried to apply the DOF effect to it. As you might have guessed, it didn’t work!

The image became blurred, but completely evenly. So AE recognizes that the file has a z channel but it seems to interpret it as perfectly flat. I tried other effects like depth matte and all came up with the same results, an absolutly flat z channel.

Am i doing something wrong here? Are there any workarounds? I can still use a seperate sequence like i initially planned but its just more work/rendering…

    Why cant things JUST WORK!?!?!?!?!?!

    Anyone come across this before?
