    Hi everyone,
I have simple animated logo a client gave me to drop at the end of a project. It’s a simple three letter word, but one of them, an “X” has 3 fine diagonal lines running parallel to each other as a single “/” of the “X”. It looks fine on its original size but when I shrink it to, let’s say 23 %, those “///” start flickering on my NTSC monitor.

I have a progressive scan monitor and it looks fine there. But as this will be seen on regular NTSC TVs, I need to fix this somehow. I’ve tried desaturating the colors, making a freeze frame, dropping a deinterlace filter and nothing. I ran out of ideas. Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Marcos H.

  • Try this:

Apply the Video Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

Adjust the setting to 0.25 and keep adding “more” ( up to 0.75 or even 2.0) as you observe the results.

As images (moving or stills) are reduced to much smaller sizes, they can begin to “pixelate” as the image gets smaller.
To compensate, I add the Gaussian Blur Filter to coincide with the point that the image begins to get “pixely”.
The resulting “blurred” image looks smoother and quite “normal” at these smaller sizes.

If you are “Zooming In” to these sizes, “ramp-up” the amount of blur with keyframes in the Gaussian Blur Filter settings, in the Viewer.
