  crashing a lot

  I have a producer trying to edit a rough cut for a half hour show. He set auto save to 5 minutes. He does 3 or 4 cuts and then the software crashes. He manually saves after each cut he inserts on the timeline. After a repeat series of crashes he isn’t finding the work he just did. Is this a case of blowing off the prefs file and starting again or what?
  TIA for any help to the newbies here.

  I updated to OS 10.3.9 recently and crashes a lot is what I got

  Hate to say it, but the best thing would be to clean install your system. New OS, New FCP. I guarantee the crashes will end.

  Just curious, but how was your system originally set up? cloned from another station? when did the crashes start?
