  • Online a sequence in FCPHD

We’ve cut a movie trailer in FCPHD and now we need to online it. We usually create a CMX3600 EDL that’s then brought into an Avid Symphony. The Avid is able to take that edl and break it down into individual clips with handles that we can batch capture.

We now want to online in the FCP instead of the Avid. Is there a way to take a sequence in final cut and break it down into individual clips that we can batch capture at hi-res. Do we have to export an EDL? We’re having trouble finding the most efficent way of doing this.

An easy one. set the clips offline nad online them with different settings. You have to duplicate the offlined sequence into the new online format. Batchdigitise and here you go.
    Understood ? Questions? Ask.
But ba the way? Why do you use such a complicated way to online? FCPHD is as good as any Avid. I know guys, now I started a massive discussion which involves all Avid cracks. Don’t feel bad about this Avid is a massive professional program. I’m not the one criticising it.

Like Rainer said, just make all your media offline (or just delete the media from your drives, whichever you prefer to do). Duplicate your offline sequence and change to the settings you’ll be using to online. Select all the clips you’re going to batch capture in the Browser, select Batch Capture (or Control + C) and FCP will show you a window with all your tape numbers and the amount of clips on each tape it needs to capture. Select the first one and let ‘er rip.
