Nested Sequence has to be rerendered in a new Timeline
I am using FCP version 2.2 and creating a video logo which consists of 8 layers and is comprised of the following:
V1 is a colored background
V2 and V3 are both text
V4 is moving video that can be seen through the text
V5 and V6 are both text
V7 is another video clip that can be seen through the text
V8 is a static gif / piece of artI have rendered and nested this entire sequence. Next, I opened the nest in the viewer to drop into a different timeline. When I inserted the logo nest in the timeline the timeline indicated that the nest needed to be rerendered again.
Can someone please explain to me why this nest needs to be rerendered?
I have worked with other nests that consist of 6 layers which were comprised of 3 layers of video, one colored background and 2 layers of text and haven’t had this problem.
I’d appreciate any feedback.

It’s been a while, but I don’t think renders will follow from sequence to sequence in FCP 2.x… I think that began with FCP 3.

I have previously and successfully opened nested sequences in new timelines without having to rerender.

If you’re going to be an a#$hole and post across multiple boards at the same time for a non-urgent issue, at least update your posts with information people have provided.

I’ve been working with nested sequences since version 1.2 and they’ve never needed rerendering. Except when FCP decides they need to be for no good reason. Once in awhile it just doesn’t seem to be happy. They’ve always been quirky, but they’ve always been supposed to work without rerendering.
Little obvious things to check –
Are the sequences exactly the same settings? Everything.
Did you accidentally change the opacity?
Are you sure the original is a completely solid background? No opacity or overlay modes or anything? -

Thank you very much for responding to my post. This particular nest defintely seems to be quirky.
As per your suggestion I did check a few things.

The opacity for all layers is set to 100. I double checked my previous split screens and the opacity for each of those layers is also set to 100.

Each of my previous sequences are different. The content may vary from 3-4 video clips, 2-3 layers of text, the colored backgrounds may have a brightness and contrast filter, as well as a color tint filter. Those sequcnes all nested fine and dropped into the timeline when opened in the viewer.

The background of the first layer apears to be solid.
“No opacity or overlay modes or anything?”
What types of overlays are you referring to? The only filters applied to this layer are color tint and flop. I have never used the flop filter until now.

Don’t render then nest. Nest all, then render the nest. Then drop into the new sequence. See if that works.
