I have FCP 4.5 set to “all frames” but only get a still image on my monitor each time I move the playhead (a new still of the new location of the playhead). What am I doing wrong? Thanks. – Rob

I don’t have an answer either because I have this problem also. I’ve asked this question too and have had a few answers, but none has worked. In the past someone put together a list of 14 points to check (including All Frames and unchecked square pixels and mirror image), and I’ve done all that and still don’t get the picture. However, I’ve continued to work in FCP. I now have made two shows that I thought I captured in an identical manner, but one will play in the monitor and the other won’t. Furthermore, the one that won’t display on the monitor appears in anamorphic shape with black areas above and below the image while the one that will display appears in 4:3 shape and fills the monitor. This may or may not be a clue, but maybe it will give someone an idea!

I can have both up programs on my computer and flip between them, so I know my cables are hooked up correctly. Both programs were shot in mini-DV and captured with DV-NTSC settings through firewire from my G5 Mac to my Sony DSR-30 deck. The A/V output setting is Apple Firewire NTSC 720×480. I’ve tried checking and unchecking the mirror image box. And All Frames is checked too.

There must be others out there with the same problem, because I’ve seen this question asked before (answers were always some of the 14 points and sometimes they worked). I’m hoping there are yet some more thoughts on the subject!
